Chapter Seven
Freddy couldnât believe heâd turned into such a wuss about this, but he did.
Heâd wanted Jason to bite him. The first alpha heâd ever wanted to put his mating bite there, and he didnât do it.
Freddy had promised not to hog all the hot water, but that was exactly what he did when he was under the spray.
Anything to take his mind off the way his throat ached, and his eyes burned. Better for the burn to be on his ugly skin.
He wasnât dumb. He saw the way Jason had looked at his other scars, and Freddy figured he should stop being so greedy and unrealistic.
Everyone had a standard. Freddy wasnât even a real mate. He was mail order, and he couldnât stop until Mickey was paid back for everything heâd done for Freddy.
Jason didnât even initially want him. Freddy was only here because of his meddling, rich father.
Freddyâs eyes snapped wide open in the shower when he realized it.
Jasonâs dad wanted children. Only omegas could bear alpha children.
Freddy was a male, and he wasnât in heat, but it was still possibleâ¦
He wasnât going to think about that right now. Heâd go insane if he did. For now, he spent his time scrubbing the last of Jasonâs pleasant smell from his body. He didnât want this. He didnât want any of this.
He didnât want to fall for the first stupid alpha to treat him nicely. He didnât want to love and hate Jason for not biting him.
He was so confused.
Freddy curled up on the couch downstairs, hugging a pillow to himself while he searched for something to watch on Netflix. He settled for something true crime-related because then it was a reminder that there were others in the world who had it worse than he did.
He was just lonely and kind of pathetic. He had it amazing compared to the poor bastards he watched on TV.
He woke up the next day and felt a little better. He hadnât cried, and ultimately, it wasnât a bad night. He had some good sex for the first time in a long time, so he wasnât going to feel sorry for himself. That was off the table.
What was on the table were pancakes and bacon. Those were always awesome.
Jason came downstairs, ruffling a towel through his hair from his morning shower, and Freddy had to admit, he looked great.
Jason looked at him, looked at the spread, and thankfully, took the hint that Freddy didnât really want to talk about how theyâd parted last night.
âYou look like youâre trying to feed an army here.â
Freddy grinned. âLeftover pancakes are just as delicious as fresh ones. I can put anything we donât eat into the fridge for tomorrow.â
They actually chatted like old friends at his table. Eating, drinking, and when they finished, Jason grumbled that he had to call his father.
âI have to tell him how things are going. Heâs been blowing up my phone, but I wonât tell him about us,â Jason said quickly. âThatâs not his business.
